Trucking Fleet Tyre Management, Tracking And Consulting

Testing BDV Bandag Recap

Test vehicle is an 8 wheeler front lift garbage truck doing double shifts for a leading waste management company. The vehicle is constantly averaging payloads of up to 7 tonne.

The following tyres were managed through Bears Tyre Tracker and all maintenance costs are included in the final CPK (cost per kilometre) figure.

Tyres had only one rotation and turns as required over the testing schedule. The first rotation was at around 5,000 kms overdue but even if on schedule to do the second, it would not have helped increase kilometres as they fell short of the mileage expected.

Bandag is a worldwide name in retreads and priced high.

This test clearly shows the expected quality is just not there.

Many national accounts are using this tread – and definitely wouldn’t be managing them to get extra kilometres.

Equipment managers need to take a look how the fleet are lagging in lost mileage.
