Following on from Part 1 on the EV effect ……..
I’ve heard all the excuses before; tyres ‘go in the too-hard basket’ because you don’t
want to think sensibly about better management, or that pressures of time constraints
give you that ‘gotta keep them running’ excuse that we hear thrown up over and over
again.
It really is just an excuse, and right now it is more important than ever to do
something about it purely because there are more and more commercial electric (EV)
vehicles hitting our roads and causing ‘new world’ demands on truck and bus tyres,
with one of these many new demands coming from the increased torque (POWER-
DOWN).
If operators don’t want to understand or show concern on what I refer to as the ‘burn
out’ issue in tyre management, it just reflects naivety or straight-out stupidity.
Bears Tyre Tracker was developed by me over 23 years ago which means Bears Tyres
knows exactly how to provide capital-low downtime and make it easy to pinpoint
vehicles due for the attention required to slow-down or even stop this ‘burnout’ I talk
about.
Bears Tyre Tracker is a software-based tracker that does away with all the guess work.
Management schedules are created for the exact types of tyres being used on job-
specific vehicles.
Having 45+ years’ experience in the truck tyre industry covering some of Australia’s
largest fleets and working very closely with Michelin technical in the 1980s at the
family retreading plant certainly helped the refinement of the many calculations
required by the Tracker.
This leads us to news on a MAJOR COUP in the tyre industry …………
Vipal Rubber of Brazil has proudly engaged the services of Bears Tyres and the Bears
Tyre Tracker for the complete and thorough testing of its world-first retread-rubber-
specifically developed specifically for EV use.
Vipal is a world leader in the rubber industry with a proven record of delivering lower
cost-per-kilometre on their retread products.
The Vipal EV tread DV-UME has a compound developed to overcome typical effects
that occur on tyres serving electric vehicles, which can be very different to what you
see on tyres on diesel powered vehicles.
Vipal Brazil has stated that the data on performance that Bears Tyre Tracker provides
is second to none.
We have already been testing on electric buses for two and a half years and have
plenty of data on many different brands of new and retread products.
It is with great pride that Bears Tyres and the Tracker be the first in Australia to have
this very important task to perform testing and present the end results on the world
stage.
